It`s refreshng honesty from the EU dimplomat to admit that there are some double standards in diplomacy. Which countries claim to have the moral high ground, lying trough their teeth every single time and lobbying for the EU to join their hypocritical actions? USA, UK, Israel, and to a lesser extend, Australia.

It worked in the old days when developing countries were so behind in education, comparing to European. People in those developing countries honestly believed in European perspective as the source of truth. However, as people getting more educated, these people are able to think critically and independently. This hypocrisy has become more apparently, owing to the easy access to information through Internet and Smartphones.

Here is another example of the EU double standards. The IOC is not allowing Russians to compete under Russian flag while allowing Israel (despite their genocide against the Palestinians) to fly their flag, no problem.

He just does the standard apologia, which is point out "Yeah, we have some problems" but never actually address it meaningfully or look to solve it. Just shrug their shoulders and say "at least we mention it unlike Russia/China/Iran/NK/etc, so hurrah for muh demoocrazy!".

No wonder that diplomacy in EU is nearly dead. Diplomacy has nothing to do with managing double standards as Borrell said. On the contrary, essential for successful diplomacy is trust and this is built through honesty, integrity, and consistent actions that demonstrate reliability and goodwill. On this foundation the partners in diplomatic exchange can find mutually acceptable solutions to conflicts and issues. Borrell obviously fails diplomatic basics, what tragedy for EU !

What he said about the EU was true at one time about how great they (the EU) were and how great their quality of life was like.However, the USA has changed all that.It's like the story about the king that showed all his riches to a visitor from another kingdom and it was taken away from him by that same visitor.

I went to Syria and it's shocking what the state of the country is in. It is progressing at a pace which you wouldn't expect with what has been done to that country. However, it's sad because a few of the taxi drivers brought me to some sights where they showed me the before pictures and I had a looked at the after pictures in my real life right in front of me. Just sad, so damn sad....
