You know, Israel fits into lake michigan, is only slightly bigger than new jearsey, it is 4 % the size of spain, the slimmest width is 15 km, my grandmother could do that as a relaxing hike in a few hours... a two states solution is not really practical if your neighbors have in their charter the plan to erase you from the map. Also for Palestinians it would be difficult, because their country would be really tiny, they would totally rely on the outside again.

I think a one state solution would be best in the future, when the palestinian side stops trying to kill Israelis and prove a will for peace and the israeli settlers either return to the US or stop doing illegal actions in judea and samaria. both sides have to do their share but october 7th is a trauma that needs a lot of proof by the palestinian side, that they don't mean to do that again.

To be fair, Gaza and the west bank were pretty much left alone for well over a decade. Any hardship there falls squarely on the head of their governments. Previously things were solved with the odd small scale retaliation. They crossed a line on Oct 7. And that was all on their own. They can end this at any time by capitulating and turning themselves in.

It appears that DW is on Netanyahu's side on this issue. When the host says it is easy to see why " alestine being recognized as a state" is a reward for terrorists. First, 90% of the Palestinian people killed were not terrorist nor were they Hamas. Secondly, the Hamas attack, as atrocious as that was, appeared to be the final straw to 76 years of, not only Palestinian oppression, but all the murder and crimes against humanity oppression brought with it.

catalonians and Basques are not surrounded by walls, bombed by the Army of starved to death, there is not checkpoints, soldiers shooting at civilians, economic blockade or perverse settlers stilling the land. The Catalonians and basques can vote and elect their leaders. Its a big difference, isn't it?
