After witnessing India's horrific performance on the world's largest sporting event (2024 Olympics), it's clear that India's economy is not as wonderful as it is claimed to be. Despite boasting that we are the 5th largest economy and will be the 3rd largest by the end of the decade, India ranks 71 out of 84 in the 2024 Olympics medal table.

Sports is the least concern for a nation dealing with pollution, malnutrition and strife. India is better investing in education, weapons, infrastructure, roads, factories, etc. Nutrition is more important in increasing overall IQ. Chasing sports will lead to nothing but a momentary sense of pride.

India is very poor country in the world, our per capita is very low.At least here we got 71th rank but in nominal per capita we are 136th in the world.Our economy need to become at least 2 times to USA economy then our government may focus on sports I think.

Hong Hong got 2 gold, 2 bronze. Taiwan 2 gold, 5 bronze.... So technically China should have 44 golds and on the first place. I believe Indians can do much better with a true social reform.

To assess the performance based on medals to population ratio is naive and simplistic. Many in India dont have good roads and clean water, let alone swimming pools, courts etc.The right measure should be the number of medals over the population that has the both the financial means and easy access to facilities for them to train for the respective sports.

It doesn’t start with Olympic training facilities. You can’t just train athletes for Olympics. In the USA every school has a team for all sports. All govt schools have a sports complex. It’s when every child gets exposure you can select the best.

As Palki always boasted that India has the 5th largest GDP, it does not reflect proportionately to it's sports prowess. However, Palki is doing great by calling out the govt to do more. Palki should learn from China and hit those points repeatedly so that the govt could wake up. I would love to see India getting more golds in coming Olympics for Asia's pride.

I remember when I was a kid living in India, my school (girls’ school ) did not take any sports seriously. It was all about time pass. When I came here in the States in the 9th grade, that’s when I got a real introduction to various sports and developed an interest in understanding and playing games. The gym class was as important as any other classes that took in my high school. The attitude toward gym classes in small towns especially for girls should be changed in India.
